Johanna Oraksen asetelmataidetta voitaisiin verrata valtavaan sukupuuhun, jonka oksistosta nimien sijaan sydämemme löytäisi esineitä, esineitä, jotka ovat jättäneet jälkensä tiettyyn aikakauteen, esineitä menneeltä ajalta. Niinpä taulu taululta astumme tuttuun maailmaan, jossa, kuin kirjassa ikään, koskettava muisto, erityinen päivämäärä, syntymäpäivämuisto tuo mieleen tietyn henkilön. Jokainen teos kertoo meille tarinan menneeltä ajalta joko uuden epätavallisen tarinan tai tarinan, joka on meille jo kerrottu: kun kännykkä kohtaa esi-isiltä perityn kahvimyllyn tai kun taiteilija kutsuu meidät puhtaaseen, perinteiseen
Johanna Oraksen graafiset taidot ja helppous, jolla hän loihtii esiin menneen ajan, eivät voi olla koskettamatta meitä; entisten aikojen varjot sekoittuvat tämän päivän modernismiin tai avantgardismiin. Kyseessä oleva näyttely on kieltämättä melkoinen tapahtuma, sillä Ranskassa on todella harvinaista nähdä samalla kertaa näin paljon ennennäkemättömiä teoksia suoraan taiteilijan ateljeesta Suomesta.

Johanna Oras's still life art could be compared to a huge family tree whose branches instead of bearing names carry heart-felt objects, objects that have left their marks on the era, objects from the past. Her paintings one after another make us enter a familiar world where - as in a book - a moving memory, a special date, a birthday remembrance bring back to us a certain person. All her works of art tell us a story from the past whether it is an unusual new one or one we have been told before: when a mobile meets a coffee grinder inherited from our ancestors or when the artist invites us to a pure, traditional winemaking ceremony.
Johanna Oras's graphic skills and the ease with which she creates the sense of the past are bound to move us all; the shadows of the past blend with today's modernism or avant-gardism. No doubt this exhibition is quite an event, as it is really seldom we see at one time this number of new works of art direct from the artist's atelier in Finland.
